Originally known as Kapua (a Hawaiian flower), it served as a royal retreat and is famous as the landing site of the first transpacific telegraph cable in 1902 and the namesake of the iconic Kaimana Beach Hotel. Currently a popular beach for mother monk seals and their babies.
