Tiki cocktails ("exotics") rose to popularity from the 1930s-1970s, starting with Don the Beachcomber in 1934 Hollywood. They thrived during the Great Depression & post-WWII boom, emphasizing spice over sweetness. Though their popularity declined, classic Tiki recipes are still made today.
