Pink monochrome watercolor with gold hightlights. 2026

Located in Kāneʻohe Bay on the windward side of Oʻahu, Mokoliʻi translates to "little lizard" or "little moʻo". According to Hawaiian mythology, the islet is the tail of a giant, evil lizard (or dragon) that was defeated by the goddess Hiʻiaka, sister of Pele.  The island sits about one-third of a mile off the coast of Kualoa Regional Park.
